Clue the movie Podcast: The Finale

I remember sitting at my house, eating lunch on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, scrolling through my phone like we all do. I came across a post from a Fletch podcast—specifically, Laker Jim’s Fletch cast. The post was about a Clue documentary. Now, Clue isn’t just a popular board game; it was also made into a movie in 1985 with an incredible cast, including Tim Curry, Leslie Ann Warren, and Christopher Lloyd.

Seeing the post sparked something in me because I’ve always loved that movie. When I saw the documentary was coming out soon, directed by Jeff Smith, I thought, “This could be a good crossover with my Back to the Future podcast,” since Christopher Lloyd was in both films. So, I cold emailed Jeff.

A couple of days later, Jeff responded, and we set up a Zoom call for my podcast. We had never met before, and after a few email exchanges, we recorded a podcast. That conversation went so well, and as is the case with me when I really enjoy something, I dove all the way in.

My Back to the Future podcast had opened so many doors for me and found its own audience, and I wondered if there was an audience out there for Clue too. Since the episode with Jeff did well and I enjoyed talking about Clue, I reached out to him again and pitched the idea: “What if we did a Clue podcast? We could watch Clue one minute at a time and discuss each minute in detail.” To my surprise, Jeff was on board with the idea.

In September of 2022, we started taping episodes of Clue The Movie Podcast, and it came out a month later. Little did I know we’d end up doing 104 episodes—97 minutes of Clue, plus seven interview episodes with people like Leslie Ann Warren and Jeffrey Kramer. What I also didn’t anticipate was how much fun I would have with Jeff and how our friendship would grow. We share the same movie and pop culture references, and I really enjoyed the entire run.

Our podcast ended just last week, after two great years. Jeff and I are now moving on to a new show called PIC6, where we’ll continue to talk about our love for movies. The by-the-minute format was so much fun for me that I’ve even talked to my good friend and former podcast co-host, Frank Janish, about doing another podcast for a beloved series of films coming out later this year.

Anyway, I hope you check out Clue The Movie Podcast and our finale. Thanks to Jeff for the great run, and I’m looking forward to our next adventure.
